Genus Gymnosoma Meigen, 1803

GYMNOSOMA Meigen, 1803: 278. Type species: Musca rotundata Linnaeus, 1758 (as rotundata Fabricius, in error), by monotypy [Palearctic].

– Pallasia amplifrons Brooks, 1946: 225. Type data: holotype female (CNC). Type locality: Canada, Alberta, Morrin.


canadense (Brooks, 1946).– Michigan to Québec and Nova Scotia, south to North Carolina, also British Columbia to Nevada (S&A, 1965), California, Tennessee (CNC).
– Rhodogyne canadensis Brooks, 1946: 220. Type data: holotype female (CNC). Type locality: Canada, Québec, Aylmer, Queen's Park.


filiola Loew, 1872.– British Columbia to Manitoba, south to California and Louisiana, also Michigan (S&A, 1965).
– Gymnosoma filiola Loew, 1872: 92. Type data: syntypes, 1 male and 1 female (MCZ). Type locality: USA, Texas.
