NEONYCTIA Townsend, 1919a: 163. Type species: Neonyctia ciliata Townsend, 1919 (= Chaetona spinosa Coquillett, 1899), by original designation.
spinosa (Coquillett, 1899).– Kansas to New York and Rhode Island, south to Oklahoma and Georgia (S&A, 1965), Mexico, Québec, Florida (CNC).
– Chaetona spinosa Coquillett, 1899: 222. Type data: holotype male (USNM). Type locality: USA, Pennsylvania.
– Neonyctia ciliata Townsend, 1919a: 163. Type data: lectotype female (USNM), by fixation of Townsend, 1939b: 160 (mention of "Ht female" is regarded as a lectotype fixation).
